Derek Bell trophy, 70s Roadsports, Formula Junior, historic FF1600, classic F3, historic racing saloons, Guards trophy, classic racing cars and historic road sports

After a hard time shooting qually into the sun the afternoon produced great light and some of the best racing I've seen all season.
Series running were the 50s Team Challenge, AMOC Intermarque. AMOC Super GT Challenge, Classic F3, Formula Junior, Monoposto Challenge and the Throughbred Sports Cars.

After a quick visit to the paddock, mainly to see how bad the McLaren M1 was damaged after going off on oil and hitting the pitwall, it was back over to Luffield for the racing. Poor light and a stiff breeze meant less photography and more watching....never a bad thing.

After an early morning visit to the infield in search of breakfast and pretty tin it was over to Luffield for an excellent days racing. The WSM race was run to dusk and images were shot from Priory.

Day two of the Castle Combe Classic carnival and it was the turn of the HSCC series. Races were for Classic F3, historic road sports, historic FF1600, 70s road sports, Guards trophy, classic racing cars, historic Saloons, BARC classic clubmans and the three CCRC home series, saloons, special GT and FF1600.

Second day of the International Trophy meeting and with lighter winds the heat haze was a real problem. I probably lost 70% of shots with still more suffering from varying degrees of distortion.
Categories running were GTSCC, Derek Bell trophy, 70s Roadsports, Formula Junior, historic racing saloons and the BRDC sportcars.

The first day of the International trophy meeting run at Silverstone by the HSCC. Track action from the historic FF1600, classic F3, historic road sports, Derek Bell trophy, Guards trophy, classic racing cars, historic FF2000 and GTSCC.
Heat haze was an issue as the day went on, with some images suffering from the dreaded distortion caused by having to shoot over acres of gravel traps and tarmac run off areas.

Day 2 of the Classic meeting featuring races for FIA Historic Formula 1, Formula Junior, HGPCA Grand Prix cars, Group C cars, Porsche road sports, Sports racing cars 1948-55, Formula 1 cars 1966-85, GT and Sports Endurance cars, Road Sports cars 1947-69, Grand Prix cars 1966-78, Pre-war Sports cars and World Masters Sports cars 1963-73. Also action from th Slowly Sideways rally stage.

Action from the 40th Anniversary meeting headlined by the HSCC historic F2s. Also racing were Top Hat Masters, BARC clubmans, Formula Vee, Classic FF2000 and FF1600s, Formula Junior, Sports Racing Masters and Healey Driver Int.
A mostly overcast and cold day but it stayed dry and the sun made an appearance in the late afternoon.

Day two of the Gold Cup meeting and after a wander through the paddock it's time for the racing.

Day one of the Gold Cup meeting. The morning was free practice while the afternoon was taken up with qualifying for the Sunday races.

An overcast and chilly start to the day that ended in lovely warm sunshine. Several great races from the HSCC plus three outstanding races in the local Combe championships.

Day three and all the shots were from the Luffield terrace area.

Day two of the Classic meeting and I walked miles and miles. Shots were taken from Priory, Luffield, Abbey, Club, Vale and Stowe. Heat haze was a big problem as was a sometimes harsh sun.

Most of the day was spent in the pit garages, paddocks and wandering the infield.
In the late afternoon I did shoot some track action from Luffield. This included Group C/GTP, Woodcote Trophy and World sportscar Masters practice.

The HSCC on the Silverstone International circuit. Shots are taken from Priory, Abbey, Farm, Luffield and Ireland. The weather was mixed, as was my photography.

Bright sunshine and huge grids at Donington for the visit of the HSCC....shame about the lack of a decent angle and the heat haze.

HSCC finals day. All the main HSCC championships were running and you could tell it was the last races of the season as some of the racing was very very close. Good luck repairing the cars over the winter.

Friday was mainly spent wandering the pits, paddocks and infield.
Later in the day there were two races for Formula Juniors and GT & Sports cars.

The first day of the HSCC summer festival.
Beautiful weather for some great cars.
F3 1000cc historique, Sports racing Masters, Group C/GTP, Derek Bell Trophy, European F2 and HRS/70s Challenge races.

A misty start to the day for qualifying but the clouds broke and the sun came out for the racing, which was excellent.

HSCC produced some fantastic racing.

First visit to the Gold Cup and well worth all the travelling.
